Why One Size Doesn’t Fit All When it Comes to Design and Marketing Trends

Design and marketing trends are a funny thing. In today’s world, videos can go viral and then be passé in a week, looking at you Left Shark. So it’s important to remember that just because something is “trending,” it doesn’t mean it’s right for your brand.

So how do you know? Great question! The easiest way to ensure you are never a follower is to create branding criteria prior to posting. By this, I mean you should have a few guidelines that every post, image or paragraph should fit into before posting.

Allow me to demonstrate. If you are a bow tie company that targets the ever elusive “hipster” crowd, your posts, shares and retweets should all fall in line with that market. Just because a trend is emerging about “Ties for Dads” or something of the likes, doesn’t mean you should hop on board just to be relevant. Today’s customer will sniff out a phony in a heartbeat, so always remember to stay true!
