River Terrace Inn Case Study

River Terrace Inn is a luxury boutique hotel located in downtown Napa. It features 100+ guest rooms and is located along the newly renovated Napa River Walk.

Challenge

In 2008, River Terrace Inn was at a crossroads and ready to move to the next level by bringing in more guests and bumping up its ratings. But with an outdated logo and inconsistent messaging, it was communicating a very different image than what it hoped to portray. By rebranding itself, the hotel hoped it would have a fresh start and a new look to help it accomplish its goals.

Solution

Megan began by working with the River Terrace Inn staff to develop a comprehensive branding strategy that included a new identity design and consistent messaging. This brand was then developed into a logo and applied to all of the hotel's print and web collateral including, letterhead, envelopes, brochures, rack cards, mugs, pens, notepads, menus, signage, room keys, website, and more.

The hotel then hired Megan to redesign and produce its monthly e-newsletter. The newsletter's fresh new look and messaging (focused on bringing "insider" tips about Napa's best-kept secrets) draws readers in month after month. For each issue, Megan works with the hotel staff to develop a theme. She also writes the articles, coordinates the editing process, and creates the layout (including all HTML/CSS coding).

Results

"We are proud to have Megan as an integral part of our marketing team. We utilize Megan’s expertise on many levels: logo design, website design, ad design, as well as our monthly e-blast. We are able to count on Megan to work for us on many projects at once and to always hit her deadlines. Megan is also a pleasure to deal with and we look forward to bringing her in on brainstorming sessions."
